Position Description:
Perform a variety of administrative tasks for Corporate Medical Director and in-house workers' compensation department.
Skills Required:
- Coordinate department and interdepartmental meetings.
- Track schedules. Receive, track and update data files.
- Process legal documents.
- Answer telephones, respond to emails, and process mail and EOB's. eFiling with the courts.
- Coordinate and calendar case deadlines and court dates.
- Prepare, send, diary and follow up on medical authorizations and/or subpoenas to medical providers.
- Copy/scan medical, employment and disability records and distribute to appropriate parties. Perform mailroom
- duties such as coordinating the distribution of mail and other correspondence to office personnel.
- Backup support for editing or adding vendors or making changes to employee's information in WCS. Other administrative tasks as requested.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent personal computer skills, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a team environment. Strong understanding of protocols, legal procedures and court systems.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of Michigan Workers' Compensation statute.
Experience Required:
2-3 years legal assistant experience, preferably with Michigan Workers' Compensation.
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
